EDITION 2.

ohana home

This client has a big family from Hawaii and there was just not enough room in the previous kitchen and dining to seat all the family together. We removed a dividing partition between the former kitchen and dining to open views to a lush exterior garden and to bring in all the daylight.

The client half joked at our initial meeting that she wanted an Opium Den kitchen, and for it to feel like one of her favorite Hawaiian restaurants. What we came to agree on that she meant was that she was drawn to the drama of blackened steel, warm walnuts and charcoal glazed tiles, and maybe an Opium Den or two.
